The third concert in the Auckland Philharmonia’s 2003 Telecom Pops series features Dame Malvina Major and Malcolm O’Neill in a show of music from the big screen; from Hollywood to Broadway – a glittering array of some of the best known songs from the world of light music.
New Zealand’s much loved diva, Dame Malvina Major, needs little introduction. Dame Malvina has chosen to live in New Zealand while maintaining an active international singing career, through which she has developed an extensive operatic, concert, oratorio and recital repertoire. In New Zealand she regularly sings with the major opera companies, orchestras and choirs as well as frequently performing as a guest artist in outdoor concerts.
Malcolm McNeill has long been considered New Zealand's finest jazz singer. For over 30 years his unique artistry and intelligent approach has earned him the enthusiastic and loyal following of aficionados both in his own country and around the world.
