'No Rules' Race In Hyundai Celebrity Snow Day
A number of New Zealand celebrities will hit the slopes on Wednesday July 2nd, for the Hyundai Celebrity Snow Day, as part of the Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival.
Rebecca Hobbs, Tony Veitch, Jayne Kiely, Kelly Swanson-Roe and Mark Ferguson are just a few of the celebrities who have registered for the event, where competitors get to show off whatever snow boarding and skiing skills they have - or don't have - on Queenstown's Coronet Peak ski field.
The Hyundai Celebrity Snow Day is one of several events sponsored by Hyundai Automotive New Zealand (HANZ), which is also supplying vehicles to festival organisers Destination Queenstown (DQ) and nzski.com.
The "Hyundai Celebrity Ski and Snowboard Race" kicks off at 10.30 am and will see celebrities ski or snowboard their way through down a course using whatever tactics necessary to make it to the finish line.
Olympic golden girl Barbara Kendall, representing HANZ in the race, will be swapping water for snow and her windsurfer for a snowboard in a bid to make her mark on the slopes.
"We are delighted to have Barbara represent us as she is a hard-working and successful sportswoman," said HANZ general manager Philip Eustace.
"She also has a great sense of humour which is important for this type of event".
Eustace says the company was very keen to sponsor the event as it is expected to be one of the festival highlights and will involve a number of well-known personalities.
"This lively and vibrant event reflects the bold and dynamic character of the Hyundai brand and its go-ahead positioning," said Eustace.
The race is scheduled to commence at 10.30 am on Wednesday July 2nd on Coronet Peak Skifield.
