New Zealand Beer Cup Awards Results
A panel of experts has spent the last three days blind tasting in excess of 150 New Zealand brews to find the best beers in each of 13 separate categories.
The judges were looking for aroma, texture, taste and fidelity of style.
Chief judge, David Logsdon from the USA, says the beers in this year’s competition have made great strides of improvement, both in terms of quality and in the number of entries to the New Zealand Beer Cup Awards.
“New Zealand beer has improved tremendously and those that won medals are of world class standard. Beers from New Zealand are consistently ranked with the best of what is on offer internationally. They are certainly keeping up with what we see in the USA.”
“This is my second year judging here and I have seen a vast improvement, including over your Australian neighbour”, he says.
David Logsdon says New Zealand beer consumers have a very good selection of freshly brewed local beers of great variety and quality.
The public can taste many of the award winning beers at BrandHQ’s around Wellington over the next few days or at the Boatshed, Taranaki Wharf on Saturday.
