Backyard Bliss! Cruising close to home

Backyard Bliss! Cruising close to home

Savings on late bookings for P&O Cruises' Pacific Savers cruises this winter equate to flying free to Sydney.

Fare savings of up to $716 are available on the company's Pacific Sky cruise to New Caledonia and Vanuatu departing Sydney on 20 June.

P&O Cruises is also promoting August and September cruises out of Australia on Pacific Sky to New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji under the banner Backyard Bliss.

"The South Pacific has long been the favoured winter holiday destination of Kiwis and Aussies," says P&O's Ross Regan, director of sales Australia and New Zealand, "and now we make it even very affordable."

The June 20 cruise also highlights a visit to pristine Mystery Island. Fares for this cruise start from $1319 pp quad share and $2799 pp twin share cruise only.

Mr Regan says cruises include accommodation, main meals, a variety of onboard activities and "spectacular entertainment".

Ship-board children's centres and activities catering for all children from toddlers to teenagers are very popular Mr Regan says.

Pacific Sky carries 1,550 passengers and 600 crew, has two restaurants and a pizzeria, indoor and outdoor nightclubs, cinema, casino and gym.

Passengers can enjoy scuba diving and snorkelling, ocean kayaking and yachting, wind-surfing and white water rafting as well as the beautiful beaches of the tropical South Pacific.

About P&O P&O Princess Cruises was founded 166 years ago as the Pacific and Orient Steam Navigation Company and invented what today we call cruising. The company carries more than one million passengers annually across the world's oceans calling at 285 ports in more than 100 countries. It is the world's third biggest cruise line with an international fleet of 20 ships and a further five beginning service up to 2004.
