Presenting partners provide vital support
New Zealand music is such an integral part of our lives now it’s ingrained on our culture. And as a medium, our home grown music continues grow in terms of quality and quantity and now it surrounds us in TV commercials, on computer games and in everyday life.
Music is no longer the exclusive domain of “the industry”. It is widely supported by other businesses.
The New Zealand Music Awards recognises the important role that other industries play in taking music to the masses. So, for the first time the awards this year have been opened up to partner support.
The awards ceremony on April 30 – where the Tuis are handed out – is an industry-only function like the Oscars and the budget is worthy of the comparison too.
Awards spokesperson Mark Ashbridge says it’s always a big night for music in New Zealand and the Recording Industry Association of NZ is extremely grateful for the support of the sponsors which go a long way to making the event a success.
“It’s great for the awards to have the backing of top brands like Export Gold, Red Bull, Xbox, ZM and Day One Digital. These are the brands you see supporting New Zealand music much of the time. We value their commitment.
“For five years Export Gold has been a key sponsor of The Big Day Out, and promotes young New Zealand musicians on radio and on stage. This year Export Gold is the proud sponsor of the Best Group award at the New Zealand Music Awards.
“Since its launch in NZ in 1996, Red Bull has been a keen and committed supporter of music, particularly the dance music scene, making it an apt sponsor of the 'Best Dance Album’ award this year.
”Xbox and ZM are supporting the Breakthrough Artist Award this year with both being avid supporters of live music and in their own domains.
“Day One Digital Media (mOnstavision) is the only manufacturer of full motion, colour, high resolution screens in Australasia and is a keen supporter of outdoor entertainment events.” “Stebbing Studios has been a long time friend of music in this country through its studio and more latterly its CD and DVD replication plant,” Mr Ashfield says.
“We are also grateful to the Stamford
Plaza for their assistance with accommodation during the
awards.”
