Ja Rule Instore - Raise Up 'N' Represent Workshop - Pasifika Festival
- Hip hop superstar Ja Rule hosts the media before his only instore appearance in Auckland tomorrow (7/3). A press conference is scheduled for 4pm at Sounds Megastore, 192 Queen Street, before the doors open to the public at 4.30pm. The winner of the Ultimate Ja Rule Fan Competition will be drawn on drive-time tonight (6/3) by DJ Hayden Hare, and scores gold tickets to the Auckland concert, the chance to meet the artist and a trip for two to his Brisbane gig with Ashanti. Ja Rule's deep-down thugged-out beats and rhymes have taken him to the top, with cuts like Livin' It Up and I'm Real (featuring J.Lo) making him one of the biggest stars in the world. He plays the North Shore Events Centre tomorrow night (7/3).
- Mai FM talent Veeshayne Armstrong, Katie Loverich and Jarm Joseph will teach West Auckland teens about their trade at a free workshop tomorrow night (7/3). 'Raise Up 'n' Represent' is a weekly seminar at Massey Leisure Centre sponsored by the Waitakere City Council and the YMCA. The promotion staff from Mai FM will talk about their careers in the music, radio and television industries. "This exclusive opportunity to meet the professionals, ask questions and score free stuff is not to be missed," Veeshayne says. Activities such as skateboarding, volleyball, three on three basketball, table tennis and break dancing start at 4pm while the DJ workshop runs from 6pm to 8pm.
- LTSA and Mai FM will showcase community groups that deliver road safety programmes at this Saturday's (8/3) 11th annual Pasifika Festival at Western Springs. The Pacific Island Safety and Prevention Project, Te Ha o te Oranga o Ngati Whatua and Pacific Road Safety are among the groups who will be promoting their work at four 'road safety' sites near the entertainment stages. The use of restraints, alcohol and driving, driving licence courses and safe towing will be some of the topics under the spotlight.
