Team Alinghi Arrival In Geneva
Team Alinghi Arrival In Geneva
AUCKLAND - March 5, 2003 - Lots of information - at times contradictory - has been recently published on the subject of welcoming the members of Team Alinghi to Geneva. This document is designed to answer the numerous questions.
WHO IS IN CHARGE OF
ORGANISING THE CELEBRATION ?
The celebration taking
place to welcome the members of Team Alinghi is organised by
Team Alinghi and their partners (UBS, Infonet, Audemars
Piguet and Riri) with the support of the federal, regional
and municipal authorities, as well as the l'Aéroport
International de Genève Cointrin.
IS THERE MEDIA ACCESS AT
THE AIRPORT ARRIVAL ?
On Saturday March 8, 2003 at
13:00, a charter plane transporting Team Alinghi and the
America's Cup will land at the Geneva Cointrin airport. It
will taxi up to Gate 19 where the Team will be welcomed by
the federal and regional authorities, as well the Mayor of
Geneva.
ALL MEDIA must present themselves at the press centre in the airport no later than 12:00 equipped with a valid press card or the media accreditation pass from the Auckland media centre. Photographers and cameramen who would like to be present on the tarmac will be escorted to the plane. Other media will be directed into an area designated for the press conference.
WILL THERE BE A PRESS
CONFERENCE?
The press conference will take place
directly following the welcome by the authorities.
A
similtaneous French/English - English/French translation
will be proposed and about thirty audio connections will be
available. The interviewees will be MM Ernesto Bertarelli,
Russell Coutts and Michel Bonnefous. Also available for a
question and answer session will be Jochen Schuemann, Grant
Simmer, Rolf Vrolijk, and Pierre Yves Jorand.
In order
to assist us in welcoming you in the best possible way,
thank you for confirming your presence by email at the
address media@alinghi.com
WHERE SHOULD THE PUBLIC GO TO
WELCOME THE MEMBERS OF TEAM ALINGHI ?
Because of the car
show in Geneva, we recommend that the public do not come to
the airport as it will not be possible to access the
tarmac. We suggest that the public come directly to La
Rotonde, in front of the Brunschwick monument from
19:00.
WHAT PRESENTATIONS ARE PROPOSED TO THE PUBLIC ?
From 19:00 a musical group will be performing on site
and images will be projected on a giant screen. The public
will be able to welcome Team Alinghi and the America's Cup
and then a spectacular sound and light show will begin. The
music will continue into the evening. Refreshments will be
available.
HOW WILL THE PUBLIC BE INFORMED?
We are
counting on the radios and daily papers to relay this
information to the public and insist that those who wish to
welcome the Team must go directly to the Rotonde from 19:00.
