“for georgie deals with Georgie’s sister Tessa and her dark obsession with water, motorbikes, love and rock n roll. All Georgie has left is Tessa’s video-d ‘suicide note’.” says writer Kathryn van Beek. Kathryn’s writing credits include award-winning little death, french toast and language of angels (co-written with Jodie Rimmer). van Beek has been described as “a connoisseur of human interaction” Tom Rodwell Sunday Star Times 27.10.02, “a new talent on the rise” John Smythe - National Business Review.
“This year I am focusing on writing just the one play for the Fringe – I’ve loved my year studying in Wellington and I’m looking forward to bringing for georgie to BATS”. Kathryn has completed her MA in Scriptwriting at Victoria University Institute of Modern Letters.
Director Natalie Hitchcock has also had a busy year. Directing three plays at the SiLO Theatre in Auckland including a successful season of Pinter’s A Slight Ache.
Pia Midgley, will be
taking to the stage as Georgie as well as fulfilling her
usual role as producer.
“I love being involved in the
Fringe Festival, this year will be even more exciting. I’m
really looking forward to the challenge of a solo show…while
there’s drama there’s also a feast of multimedia including
video, Kathryn’s original music and a motorcycle!”–
producer/actor Pia Midgley
"for georgie the one Fringe show not to miss coming to you from 3girls6legs, the funky Theatre Company that bought you LITTLE DEATH in 2001 and INDISCRETIONS in 2002"
