"INSIDE THE TEAM"
AUCKLAND - February 19, 2003 - Film-maker Nicolas Wadimoff is currently in the stages of filming a 52-minute documentary called "Inside the Team" which follows the journey of Alinghi, the first Swiss challenger to participate in the America's Cup.
Completely immersed in the world of the Team and the competition, Nicolas has hitched a ride with Alinghi and is documenting the adventure. He sees the side-stories, the tensions, the drama as well as joy, and follows the daily lives of several key people on the team, who carry the determined message of desired victory. They have allowed him to open a door to the heart of the team to "personify" the unpitying universe of high-level competition and to assess all of these elements.
"What interests me in filming such a competition as the America's Cup is that it comes closer to the stakes of dramatic fiction than just factual reporting," comments Nicolas. "This film will be an emotional thriller which will show, like a tightrope walker forever balancing on a thin cord, the limits between passion and excess."
Co-produced with ARTE (France) and SSR (Switzerland), this documentary will be broadcast on March 20 on the TSR (Télévision Suisse Romande) program "Temps Present" and on March 21 on the swiss-german channel.

NICOLAS WADIMOFF has directed several documentaries for CANAL , ARTE, RADIO CANADA, TSR, TVE (Spanish channel) etc. He has also directed four full-length films for cinema and television, among them "Mondialito" as well as "Clandestins-Stowaways" in English which has received numerous international rewards. " Inside the Team " is a production of Borderline Production (Switzerland) and MC4 (France).
