Mozy along to Auckland Museum to welcome in the Year of the Sheep, on Sunday 16th February with a Living Treasures Day to see in the Chinese New Year.

A rousing performance of the Khoo Lion Dancing Troupe will get you in the mood, followed by traditional Chinese music from the ever-popular Cantonese Opera Society.

To see what the Year of the Sheep has in store for you, visit Chinese Astrologist Peter Chan. Fans of calligraphy can purchase hand-painted t-shirts, or even get their own Chinese symbol in body paint! Those who want to test their manual dexterity can try their hands at paper folding with origami expert Warren Mah.

Children’s activities include Chinese lantern-making and badge-making featuring Chinese astrological animals. Storyteller extraordinaire Tanya Batt will be enchanting children with Chinese folktales.

There is also the unique opportunity to get a sneak preview of ‘Amadeus’ performed by The Real Theatre Company, who will be on stage at the PumpHouse from March 1st.

Admission by usual donation, children are free.
