Perfect Pool is an abandonment into murky depths, dreams and death: exquisite, choreographic theatre of muscled water, bodies of light, and stories from the pools.

Inspired by Ovid’s Echo & Narcissus and fragments of other watery stories, it is a reflection on dreams, drowning, memory and death.

Devised and performed by AkeAke’s co-directors Jessica Sutherland and Rhys Latton.

“The seeds of this creation are in a workshop we did with Pantheatre in Paris 3 years ago. After a year’s workshopping with work-in progress showings, we produced a version for the Dunedin Fringe last year and are reworking a new work for the NZ Fringe,” says Rhys Latton.

“My biggest challenge is the stilt acrobatics,” says Jessica Sutherland, “I wanted to see what I could do on stilts other than walk.”
