‘Loyal’ Momentum Builds As Cup Challenge Approaches
Flags to support Team New Zealand’s ‘Loyal’ campaign will be flying the length of the country on Monday in ASB Bank branches, Air New Zealand terminals, buses, trams and ferries as the nation’s focus shifts to the challenge kiwis have been waiting for.
A major supporter of Team New Zealand, ASB Bank, has produced tens of thousands of Loyal flags which go on sale in branches nationwide. Proceeds from each sale goes to fundraise for Team New Zealand. The 28 cm long Loyal flags are discrete enough to be attached to the cars of loyal commuters, but sufficiently visible to show the support of proud kiwis.
The Loyal flags are the next stage in the Loyal campaign, developed by Team New Zealand last year to give sponsors the ability to drive public support and fundraise for the defense of the America’s Cup.
ASB Bank is partnering key players in the ‘people moving’ industry to get the Loyal message on the streets as the momentum to the America’s Cup builds. From Monday, Air New Zealand will sporting the flags in terminals up and down the country. Stagecoach buses will fly the flag from all its Link buses which patrol the CBD routes in Auckland. Not to be outdone, Christchurch has also risen to the challenge with its red buses and city trams all flying the Loyal flags from their drivers’ windows on Monday.
On the water the Ferries are doing the same. Fullers Ferries will fly the Loyal flags inside the Ferries on all crossings this Monday, and on the Cook Strait crossings, the Interislander Ferry will be giving away a hundred flags to cars on board. ASB Bank Head of Retail Banking and Marketing, Barbara Chapman, says the Loyal flags are designed to capture the positive energy of New Zealanders who want to support the home team.
“New Zealanders are extremely supportive of Team New Zealand, and we wanted to develop a new aspect to the Loyal campaign so that they can express their support. With branches in communities around the country ASB Bank can harness the public’s excitement from Northland to Invercargill and get people flying the flag on their cars.
“The response from organisations wanting to partner us in this initiative has been very positive. As a nation, we’ve done it before with successful campaigns like Red Sox, so we’re encouraging people to do it again for the 2003 challenge.”
ASB Bank branches around
the country will be liaising with their local Mayors to
ensure they take up the challenge to fly the flag in their
community.
