Powerball Jackpots To A Mega $10 Million
Powerball has jackpotted again this week, to a mega $10 Million, the first time this has occurred in the history of the game.
“This Saturday, some lucky customer could win New Zealand’s biggest ever lottery prize,” says Acting Chief Executive Warren Salisbury.
Since the game was launched in February 2001 the top Powerball prize has gone as high as $ 8.6million and the top prize has been struck eight times.
In June this year the Powerball rules were amended to allow the game to jackpot to a maximum prize of $15 Million.
Last month NZLC also announced changes to the Lotto game to create a guaranteed millionaire and 50% more winners.
This week an Invercargill couple with young children claimed their guaranteed million dollars from the NZLC’s Head office in Wellington. The family (who wish to remain anonymous) say they purchased a $10. Powerdip on a whim and forgot about it until they checked their Sunday paper.
The new Lotto guaranteed millionaires say they are very excited by the win, but have decided to just sit tight for a while and let it soak it in before making any plans.
“So far we have made three guaranteed millionaires, in Whakatane, Invercargill and in St Heliers Auckland, and we’re looking forward to making another one and possibly a multi -millionaire as well this weekend,” adds Mr Salisbury.
