EXOTICA 2003 – more than just sex!
“At this year’s Exotica we promise you can see everything from a Ferrari to a vibrator – if adults want it, we’ve got it!” says Charlotte Mules of adult lifestyles expo, Exotica.
Previously known to visitors as Erotica, Exotica has gone from being “predominantly a sex-based, adult show to a lifestyle show with a sex flavor” says Mules. The hint at the exotic has attracted exhibitors from the top end of the adult lifestyle market like jet skis and motorbikes.
Despite changes in the show format, Exotica will still be largely a sex-orientated show, having its roots in Australia’s Sexpo. “It is also one of our strongest points,” says Charlotte, “it is what draws the crowds and what people really want to see. Statistics have shown that over half the people we are getting through the show would never go to an adult shop, but feel comfortable in this show environment.”
“It is still good to maintain the R18 edge,” she says. “it keeps out the kids and people know they can visit the show and see something they won’t see anywhere else in New Zealand. Then they can buy lots of toys and go home!”
In its first year Erotica had 16,000 visitors, in its second year that grew to 23,000 and this year numbers are expected to be up to 40,000. There will be over 130 stands with 5 metre walkways just to handle the crowds. There will be a lot more space this year as the venue has changed from the Logan Campbell Centre at the Expo Centre to the halls at the back of the same venue, making it a lot more user-friendly for visitors.
Celebrity guests this year include Jessica Drake, an American adult movie name, her husband Evan Stone, a hot male property, and Dolorian, a young Playboy starlet who has just made the move from soft core. Shayla La Veaux is making a return appearance and Playboy Bunny Christi Shake is also joining the list of luminaries…Very pretty eye candy for both boys and girls is definitely assured!
There will also be an amateur strip show (topless only) with six heats running around the North Island beforehand. They are looking for girls who really know how to play the crowd and get the best reaction – and all are to have absolutely no experience.
There will be a sensual art gallery component and there will only be one stage at the venue this year, with around six of the same shows rotating throughout the morning/afternoon and evening.
Exotica is guaranteed to satisfy your every desire for yet another year. We’ll see you there…
