* SHADOW PLAY: WRITING WITH LIGHT AND THE PHOTOGRAMS OF LEN LYE Sunday 10 November, 2pm Wellington-based artist and lecturer Gavin Hipkins takes a look at Len Lye's photograms in the context of the contemporary European avant-garde, nineteenth-century precedents, and recent examples of art made using the photogram technique. Trace Murdoch*15XTABLES 8 Nov - 15 Dec 2002 Michael Hirschfeld Gallery Local furniture and building designer Trace Murdoch's solo exhibition includes 15 meranti ply tables in various sizes, colours and dimensions. Some are enclosed within two large wooden boxes that restrict access to several viewing slots, forcing viewers to see the tables through controlled vantage points or perspectives. 15XTABLES is supported by Creative New Zealand. The exhibition is presented within the 360 programme*a full perspective on Wellington Art*which is generously sponsored by Designworks.

Gerhard Richter Survey Until 1 December 2002 A survey of exemplary works by Gerhard Richter, one of the most internationally acclaimed German artists working today. An exhibition catalogue is available. An exhibition presented by the Institute of Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), Germany, in co-operation with the Goethe-Institut Inter Nationes Wellington. John Parker*Ceramics Until 1 December 2002 John Parker*Ceramics surveys the 35 year career and current work of one of New Zealand's foremost ceramicists. John Parker is generously supported by Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa. Generous support from Magnum Mac. A major retrospective book of John Parker's work is to be co-published by City Gallery Wellington and David Bateman Ltd.
Len Lye Until 24 November 2002 Presented by Telecom New Zealand Ltd Len Lye features 17 of the artist's ground-breaking short films, 21 photograms of friends and colleagues (including Le Corbusier and Georgia O'Keeffe) and six stunning kinetic sculptures (two added specially for its Wellington showing). Len Lye is a joint exhibition between the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, supported by the Len Lye Foundation.
