Sacred Hill Scoops A Handful Of Medals At The 2002 Liquorland Top100 International Wine Competition

Sacred Hill is once again in medal winning mode, scooping up nine medals including two gold, three silver and four bronze at the 2002 Liquorland Top100 International Wine Competition. The most pleasing result for Sacred Hill was the two gold medals awarded to its top tier wines, the Riflemans Chardonnay and Brokenstone Merlot. Both the Sacred Hill Riflemans Chardonnay and Brokenstone Merlot have been selected for the final Top100 wines of the competition and as such are eligible for supreme awards and trophies.

Tony Bish, Sacred Hill’s chief winemaker, said “The winemakers and viticulturists at Sacred Hill are very pleased with these results as they reflect our commitment to producing individualistic premium wines. The silver for our newly released Marlborough Riesling is fantastic as the wine was only bottled four days prior to judging”.

The Liquorland Top100 is the only major New Zealand wine competition to judge international wines alongside locally produced ones with entry numbers topping the 1,400 mark. The aim of the competition is to provide consumers and distributors with the most comprehensive guide to the qualities and merits of wines currently sold in the New Zealand market.

Wines selected for the Liquorland Top100 are heavily promoted throughout the Liquorland chain of retail stores as well as other promotions such as public tastings and nationwide Cellarmasters Wine Club tastings. Sacred Hill also shares a strong relationship with domestic retail chain and National distributor, Glengarry Hancock’s. So coupled with the promotional activity expected nationwide these wines will be in limited supply.
