Wanted: New Zealand's best personal trainer
The hunt is on for the best personal trainer in New Zealand in the country's first ever competition to find and reward the most inspiring, dedicated and effective trainer.
Gym-goers from around New Zealand are encouraged to nominate their personal trainer to be in with a chance to win $1,000 of personal training at the gym of their choice. The winning personal trainer will receive $4,000.
The judges of the Powerade Trainer of the Year competition include Sean Fitzpatrick, former All Black Captain; Nikki Hart, Sports Dietitian and Richard Beddie, President of Fitness New Zealand.
The fitness industry has grown considerably in recent years with an estimated 1,000 personal trainers in New Zealand compared to only a few hundred in 1992.
Powerade Trainer of the Year judge, Nikki Hart says finding New Zealand's best trainer won't be an easy task. "In recent years, there has been a huge growth in the number of personal trainers as people realise how important they are to an effective health and fitness programme. Personal trainers provide excellent skills to support anyone wanting to improve their fitness levels. Identifying who is the best will be a challenge."
Rugby legend, Sean Fitzpatrick, has used personal trainers throughout his career and swears by the value of a quality trainer.
"The good trainers are those who know their clients and are able to motivate them to achieve their goals," said Mr Fitzpatrick.
The ten trainers who receive the highest number of nominations will be asked to provide information outlining their key achievements, philosophy and work style.
According to Powerade spokesman, Mike Shepherd, "The Powerade Trainer of the Year competition is a great opportunity for gym goers around the country to acknowledge their personal trainer. We're looking for the very best trainer around: someone who is enthusiastic, encouraging and, most importantly, effective."
The competition coincides with the relaunch of the Powerade range. In addition to the existing flavours (Mountain Blast, Lemon Lime and Berry Ice) Powerade is now available in two new light variants (Green Light and Citrus Burst) and a Mandarin flavoured Sportswater.
New Powerade Light is a lower calorie version, with the full Powerade flavour. Powerade Sportswater is naturally flavoured water based version, with five vitamins, minerals and electrolytes. Nomination forms are available from gyms or can be obtained by calling 0800 505 123.
