The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery this week announced the appointment of Simon Rees to the position of Curator, Contemporary Art.

Rees is a regular contributor to international art magazines Flash Art, Sculpture, and Art Text and has been an arts columnist for Auckland based magazine Metro as well as a reviewer for the New Zealand Herald.
Rees brings curating experience from Sydney Gallery Artspace and numerous project based exhibitions, and is looking forward to contributing to New Zealand’s exhibition culture.
“I am excited to be returning to New Zealand and reacquainting myself more fully with the New Zealand scene – from the privileged position afforded by the Govett-Brewster” says Rees.
Simon joins the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery from 1 July 2002.
