Three International Markets For Film NZ
Film New Zealand is this week carrying out the first of three high-profile New Zealand campaigns promoting New Zealand not only as a location for international productions but also as a talented and competitive screen industry production base.
Film New Zealand staff are manning a central stand at Location Expo, the annual event held in Los Angeles and attended by almost every international film location organisation.
The theme of the New Zealand campaign is "Studio New Zealand," which promotes the entire country as a potential movie studio - not only the great diversity of locations, but equally importantly the wide and diverse range of talent available all over New Zealand.
"The record breaking success of THE LORD OF THE RINGS THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING throughout the world has reinforced our message that New Zealand has a film production industry which is an international centre of excellence, and that New Zealand is far more than only beautiful scenery," said Film New Zealand's executive director Jane Gilbert, who is heading the New Zealand presence at Locations Expo.
This is Film New Zealand's fifth year at the event, which has recently moved from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica where, says Jane Gilbert, it will be closer to New Zealand's client base.
Next month Film New Zealand will launch two more campaigns, first in collaboration with the New Zealand Film Commission at the Cannes Film Festival, and then at the Production Show in London.
At the annual Cannes Film Festival, Film New Zealand will provide information on this country's production industry to support the Film Commission's promotion of newly completed New Zealand feature films, three of which will be screening in the Cannes market.
The London Production Show (May 21-23) is Europe’s pre-eminent locations and film industry promotion market. At this event, Jane Gilbert will be joined by Declan Cahill to focus attention on New Zealand as a popular and competitive base for shooting international television commercials.
Film New Zealand is a non-profit organisation supported by Industry New Zealand, Investment New Zealand and the New Zealand Film Commission.
Its market
participation is this year supported by a Government fund
established to promote the screen production industry in
association with the international releases of Peter
Jackson’s record-breaking New Zealand production THE LORD OF
THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE
RING.
