Peter Jackson’s THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING easily snared the Biggest Ever Opening Week record, by taking over $2.9million at the box office in its first week.

This accomplishment easily surpassed the previous all time opening week record holder HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHERS STONE, which grossed $2million in it’s opening week.

To have such a strong debut and be honoured by the Hollywood Foreign Press with these nominations is extremely gratifying.”
