New Zealander’s flocked to cinemas yesterday to be the first to see Peter Jackson’s eagerly anticipated THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, the first instalment in THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING shattered all previous opening day box office records, with a phenomenal first day opening of $720,933!!!!!!
This opening day record surpasses Star Wars the Phantom Menace which opened to $516,333.
Roadshow Film Distributors General Manager, Lisa Hubbard said, “This outstanding result is a true indication New Zealander’s have embraced this remarkable film”.
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING released throughout New Zealand yesterday in over 60 locations on 92 screens.
