The HRL Morrison Music Trust announced today that the Prime Minister, Helen Clark, is to launch its new CD recording of music composed by Gareth Farr at Parliament on Tuesday 4 December, 2001.
The new CD titled Gareth Farr Warriors from Pluto features the NZSO Chamber Orchestra (formerly the New Zealand Chamber Orchestra) conducted by Marc Taddei, STRIKE and Deborah Wai Kapohe. This new recording features two works for chamber orchestra, (including Warriors from Pluto virtually a concerto for the STRIKE percussion ensemble), arrangements of music from the TV police drama Duggan and the incidental music to The End of the Golden Weather, and Nga Tai Hurihuri, for soprano, karanga and percussion.
Accenture (NZ) Ltd is proud to sponsor Gareth Farr¹s exciting new CD and applauds the innovative contribution Gareth and his CD makes to New Zealand music," said Jack Percy, Managing Partner. "I am also honoured that the Accenture-commissioned work Nga Tai Hurihuri will be released to the general public, for the first time enabling all New Zealanders to experience this stunning piece of work. I congratulate Gareth on an excellent production."
Lloyd Morrison, Chairman of the HRL Morrison Music Trust, said today "We greatly value the support of both the Prime Minister and Accenture with regards to the release of the new recording. There is genuine creative and intellectual capital generated by artistic endeavour, and it is heartening to feel that commercial sponsors are beginning to realise the potential benefits to them in associating with projects such as this. The Trust thanks and greatly commends Accenture for their support for Warriors from Pluto. Gareth¹s music is some of the most exciting and approachable contemporary music you¹re likely to hear and the Trust is very proud of its continuing association with this fine composer."
The HRL Morrison Music Trust was established in 1995 as a charitable trust to support New Zealand musicians of international calibre. All funds received by the Trust are used to make recordings, present concerts, both in New Zealand and overseas, and assist musicians to undertake projects to further develop their talents. To date, the Trust has released over 25 recordings, four of which include music by Gareth Farr (MMT2019 Owhiro Works for String Quartet, MMT2020 Farr Chamber Music, MMT2021 Farr Orchestral Music and MMT2026 Farr Te Papa).
