Friday nights become an escape route from the debility of a working week, with some gourmet food and drink and some head nodding at the Horn you¹ll come out feeling replenished.

Saturday 18th- Zen and Clinton Smiley Saturday night heralds the party, whether your just in for a quickie or settling in for a night on the town, the Matterhorn lays on the thickest Saturday night beats, with our succession of distinguished DJs playing the sounds you love to sway to. This Week: This pair who usually run Radio Active show The Floor together on Thursdays team up for a swinging Saturday at the horn, there will be no lack of soul and funk for you to get down to in the isles, a great pre-party warm up!

Sunday 19th - The Matterhorn presents Gilles Peterson Worldwide The highest Rating show on Radio Active as determined by the radio survey. Gilles is the main man behind acid jazz and label Talking loud, an in demand international DJ, who attends all the best festivals in the world as well as playing a weekly club night in London, and to top that all off, his Worldwide show plays weekly on BBC¹s Radio One and he records a special version for us. He has long been respected by hip hop and drum n bass artists, while the new breed of garage and house acts cite him as a major influence. Tune in to Gilles Peterson Worldwide 6-8pm on Radio Active 89FM presented by The Matterhorn.

Wednesday 22nd - Jonathan Crayford Crayford¹s band is a compound of experimental and traditional jazz styles. Praised for his work in New York playing with afro Cuban percussionist Tito Puente and the man, James Brown, he is now enjoyed in Wellington, playing twice monthly at The Matterhorn. Jonathan is joined by a myriad of Welly's most talented jazz musicians, with the line-up changing every week, it's guaranteed FRESH!

Thursday 23rd ­ Expansions with b.lo Drum and bass, electronica and other scintillating dance styles that bring dance music closer to art. Join b-lo for a cultivated and cultured weekly session of brain food from the most diligent and unassuming DJ in Wellington. Cerebral sounds for liberated feet.

Wednedsay 29th ­ Twinset That funky three piece Twinset are back in session for another Wednesday of lounge and jazz masterpieces. You won't see a better looking jazz band in Wellington and naturally they fit right in down at The Matterhorn in their groovy zoot suits. Twinset play a swinging selection of jazz and lounge classics teamed with a fair swag of their original tunes. It's toe tapping.

September 3rd - Soul Emergency with DJs Toby Nairobi and Mr Lovebucket Yay, the midweek winter soul fest is back, a monthly session of sweet soul and dancing in the Matterhorn gardens, this session was an absolute hit last time we ran it. So get off yo' asses, and out from in front of the television and go have a couple of night caps and get in the soul groove! from 9.30pm.
