More Doors Open For The Community
NZ On Air announced support for a new series of Open Door, a collaboration that matches the expertise of a television production company with stories from the community.
“Open Door is a unique form of community-based television that allows groups or individuals to come up with their own story ideas. The production company, Morningside Productions and broadcaster, TV 3 then work together to select the ten best proposals,” said NZ On Air Chief Executive, Jo Tyndall.
“The programmes are made using the expertise and equipment of the production team but with the communities involved taking full editorial control. This wonderful combination ensures the production of challenging, quality television with stories that truly reflect issues from the community,” Ms Tyndall said.
Ms Tyndall commended TV3 for getting involved in the broadcasting of community-based television, an area traditionally catered for by TV One.
“TV3 broadcasting community-based television sends a positive message to the communities involved and the wider public. It says that the community counts and it gives them a unique outlet to speak for themselves,” she said.
