Vodafone Warriors face a test of their own
Auckland, New Zealand, July 10, 2001 – The Vodafone Warriors face a test of their own when they play the Brisbane Broncos on the Gold Coast this Sunday.
Daniel Anderson has asked eight of his players to back up from Friday’s international in Wellington. Rookie prop, Iafeta Paleaaesina will appear for the Junior Kiwis followed by Clinton Toopi, Frances Meli, Stacey Jones, Logan Swann, Ali Lauitiiti, Jerry Seuseu and Monty Betham in the main event.
“I will be asking a lot of my guys, but I guess Brisbane are in a similar position with a number of their blokes also backing up. Our clash on Sunday will be a real test for both teams”, said Anderson.
“I will be looking towards my non-test players for leadership and courage, especially my Australian players that have a lot of experience to call back on. Although the ask is tough, we have to keep forging ahead and continue to aim for consistency in our performance.”
“The build-up for this week has been disruptive, but our players know what they are capable of. It’s a matter of re-focusing the team immediately after the test match on the job at hand. “
Daniel Anderson has named the following team to take on St George Illawara:
1. Ivan Cleary
2. Henry Faafili
3. Wairangi Koopu
4. Clinton Toopi
5. Frances Meli
6. Motu Tony
7. Stacey Jones (c)
8. Jerry SeuSeu

12. Awen Guttenbeil
13. Kevin Campion (c)

The Vodafone Warriors will take on Brisbane Broncos, on the Gold Coast, Sunday July 15, 2.00pm local time.
