NEW ZEALAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA EDUCATION

SEPT Saturday 22, 10am-5pm, Te Papa WELLINGTON

Experience a full day of educational and musical entertainment, introducing you to the workings of a professional orchestra and the individuals within it. Each section of the orchestra (woodwind, brass, strings, percussion etc) will present mini-demonstrations of their role in their sections of the orchestra, and how their instruments work. The demonstrations are informative and fun, explaining the instruments in everyday terms; a wind player might demonstrate how a French Horn produces pitch by blowing on a piece of garden hose and invite an audience member to reproduce these special sounds. There is also the opportunity to meet and question players individually.

At 3.30pm there will be a free family that will include well-known and much loved repertoire

For ticket prices for all concerts please ring our Freephone 0800 479 674 All Artists and programmes are correct at time of compilation; the NZSO reserves the right to change concert details without notice.

- For further information, pictures or interviews, please contact NZSO publicist Hannah Evans on (04) 801 3833 or hannahe@nzso.co.nz.
