Auckland, New Zealand, June 19, 2001 – After several weeks on home turf, the Vodafone Warriors will be heading across
the Tasman once more to take on St George Illawara at WIN Stadium this Sunday.
The game promises to be a tough one. Both teams will be looking for a win after being defeated in the dying minutes of
their respective games at the weekend.
The Vodafone Warriors were dissatisfied with their performance against the Wests Tigers.
“I was happy with our defensive play, but our attack options let us down. We are determined to improve our options in
the opposition's half of the field.
“That said, I think we’ll be strong against St George. We beat them in round four, and we’re keen to do it again. Each
and every one of the guys will be aiming to lift their game this weekend”.
“One of our big lessons from the Wests game is we have to stick to our own game plan.
“Another aim is to make sure that when we do get ahead, we put the opposition away,“ says Anderson.
After sustaining an arm injury pre-game last Saturday, Jason Death will not line up against the Dragons. This comes as a
blow to the Vodafone Warriors – the hooker has played every game in the 2001 season and his experience will be missed.
But the team reshuffle Death’s absence has led to creates an exciting opportunity for Iafeta Paleaaesina. The youngster
will travel with the squad to play his first NRL game on Australian soil.
Daniel Anderson has named the following team to take on St George Illawara:
1. Ivan Cleary
