IT'S A SELL OUT! LUDWIG! A Feast of Beethoven
He was deaf... he was quarrelsome... and he was a raging genius. He was LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN.
The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra disclosed today that it has SOLD OUT the spectacular Ludwig! Feast of Beethoven concerts in Wellington this weekend. The same concerts will be performed in Auckland the following weekend and are expected to sell out by early next week.
These concerts, which are part of the NZSO 2001 subscription series, pay tribute to one of the most celebrated composers of all time - Ludwig van Beethoven - in two spectacular programmes of his powerful music.
This is the first time, in ten years, that the NZSO has sold out the Michael Fowler Centre, which has a venue capacity of 2,400.
Speaking today, NZSO CEO, Ian Fraser said, "This is fantastic news. The success of the 2001 Concert Season has seen subscription tickets sales increase by 29% nationwide. We are delighted that there is such widespread support - public appreciation of great classical music is obviously increasing."
The Beethoven tour will continue to Hamilton and Auckland next week, go on to Christchurch on 21 June and will finish in Dunedin on 22 and 23 June.
