Concentration The Key For Catching The Cowboys

Auckland, New Zealand, May 15, 2001 – The Vodafone Warriors will be looking for their first consecutive “away” win this Sunday when they take on the North Queensland Cowboys.
After a disappointing loss to the Storm, the Vodafone Warriors will aim to deliver a more consistent performance against the Cowboys – the team currently languishing at the bottom of the NRL points table.
Despite the Cowboy’s position, the Vodafone Warriors are not discounting that club’s competitiveness. The Cowboy’s ranks include three State of Origin players, and the side’s respectable weekend performance against the Knight’s (the Cowboys scored six tries, achieved a better completion rate and made fewer errors) demonstrate the team’s strength.
With travel arrangements more demanding than usual, coupled with the loss of key player Justin Morgan to injury, the Warriors know they’ll have to maintain full concentration on Sunday.
“We’ve got a tough couple of weeks coming up as far as travelling is concerned. Some of our guys also look likely to be named in the Kiwi side – that’s great news for them and the club, but we can’t let it distract us. We’ll be packing a lot into training this week and making sure everyone remains focussed,” says Coach Daniel Anderson.
“That said, it’s great to have Wairangi and Richie back on board, they’ve each been working hard throughout their recoveries from injury and they’re keen to get back on the field. It would be good to think their return will see them, and the rest of the team, deliver an improved performance this weekend.”
The Vodafone Warriors team list for Sunday, May 20 is as follows:
1. Motu Tony
2. Henry Faafili
3. Clinton Toopi
4. Shontayne Hape
5. Francis Meli
6. Ivan Cleary
7. Stacey Jones
8. Jerry SeuSeu
9. Jason Death
10. Ali Lauitiiti
11. Logan Swann
12. Awen Guttenbeil
13. Kevin Campion
14. Monty Betham
15. Richie Blackmoore
16. Wairangi Koopu

18. Jonathon Smith
The Vodafone Warriors will take on the North Queensland Cowboys at Dairy Farmers Stadium, 6.00pm local time.
