Vodafone Warriors Target Holiday Hit Out
Auckland, New Zealand, April 10, 2001 – The Vodafone Warriors are hoping to attract a big Easter crowd and give hometown
fans a holiday treat when the club takes on the Penrith Panthers at Ericsson Stadium on Easter Monday.
With co-captain Kevin Campion back in the line up, and almost a full squad to choose from, coach Daniel Anderson is able
to field a strong team as the club looks for a complete performance to follow on from last week’s express train finish
in Wellington.
“We’ve shown we can break the opposition line,” says coach Daniel Anderson. “Now I’m looking for the team to capitalise
more effectively on that. We’ll be focusing this week on better communication amongst the players. It’s something we
still have to work on but when they get it going they really fire as a team.”
“Monday’s game is a good opportunity for us to show the fans in Auckland that we can put together back-to-back
performances,” says Vodafone Warriors General Manger, Mick Watson. “We delivered down south last weekend, now we want to
do the same for the fans at home.”
“We’ve said all along our success relies on the support of our grass-roots fans and we are as determined as ever to
deliver a quality performance.”
The afternoon’s entertainment (the game kicks off at 2:00 pm) will take place in a family festival atmosphere, with a
curtain raiser game between Auckland and Wellington (A Representative Game) at 12 noon. There will be free kids
entertainment including a bouncing castle, face painter, Easter Bunny giving away M’s and lolly scrambles too.
Halftime entertainment features a number of leading radio personalities in the Air New Zealand Celebrity Kicking ‘Bomb
Catching’ Competition.
Every spectator through the gates will also get an entry form and the chance to win dinner for themselves and a friend
with their favourite Vodafone Warrior.
