The Vodafone Warriors Power On With Bond & Bond

Auckland, New Zealand, February 19, 2001, The Vodafone Warriors have announced a new sponsorship deal with electronics retailer Bond & Bond. The relationship will see the side equipped with all the technical requirements an NRL team requires to foot it in the world’s toughest league competition.

Vodafone Warriors’ coach Daniel Anderson says it is essential to have access to video and editing facilities in order to field a team with a full understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses.

“Unless we can closely analyse games and pinpoint various strategies and combinations which work well or not so well, we immediately put ourselves at a disadvantage. This equipment allows us to check out our opposition in detail too. Not being prepared with this sort of intelligence would be very foolish of us,” says Anderson.

Mick Watson, general manager, says without the support of Bond & Bond, the Vodafone Warriors would face difficulties in daily business operations.

“The support Bond & Bond have demonstrated has been incredible. Without them, we would be falling short in many areas of our infrastructure. They’ve helped deck out our front offices to enable us to function effectively,” says Watson.

“Now Bond & Bond have come to the party with the video equipment as well. The guys have been working very hard in training so it is great we are able to provide them with facilities that will allow them to make the most of their NRL opportunities. We’ve got a lot of faith in the team, and we are grateful sponsors like Bond & Bond recognise what we’re trying to do”.

Bond & Bond joins naming right’s sponsor Vodafone, Lion Red and Puma in committing support for the new look team. CEO of Bond & Bond’s parent company Pacific Retail Group, Peter Halkett, keenly anticipates developing his company’s relationship with the team.

“Given the Vodafone Warriors is one of New Zealand’s top three sporting team brands, we are looking forward to the increased consumer awareness of the Bond & Bond brand throughout New Zealand,” says Halkett.

The Vodafone Warriors will kick off their 2001 season this Sunday at Ericsson Stadium against the Canberra Raiders.
