Ricky Martin Postponement Media Statement
Sadly the Ricky Martin concert had to be postponed from Saturday night to Sunday. The decision to postpone was taken solely because the construction of his elaborate stage was delayed by the high winds and foul weather experienced in Auckland in the week leading up to the show. Construction started a week before the concert was scheduled, and normally would have been ready with two days to spare. Most regrettably these extreme and abnormal weather conditions prevented this, despite round the clock efforts including working all Friday night and Saturday morning.
A decision had to be finally made at lunchtime Saturday, measured against the then progress. In the interests of safety to both patrons and performers the decision was made to postpone. Ricky Martin was contracted to perform in Sydney on Tuesday. Despite the heavy cost to both himself and the promoter, all parties finally co-operated to ensure a show went ahead, albeit a day late. If a Saturday show could safely have proceeded, it would have done so, if for no other reason than to avoid cost and inconvenience to Ricky’s fans, Ricky Martin and the promoter.
To say the postponement was devastating to all concerned is an understatement, and is sincerely regretted.
There will obviously be patrons who were unable to attend the postponed performance and they are invited to seek a refund by writing direct to Ticketek setting out their details and enclosing the unused ticket.
Dainty Consolidated Entertainment very much regret this situation occurred, and in the circumstances, can only but sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.
All letters will be responded to immediately.
