Complimentary Access to Domain Name Space
Complimentary Access to Domain Name Space Quality Assurance Software
Domainz has joined forces with Iceland software developer Men and Mice to provide access for the technological community to a quality assurance software programme designed to assist in improving the integrity and health of the .nz domain space – and best of all access is complimentary for a limited time.
Men and Mice are software developers who work to improve the foundations of the Internet through improving the status of the domain name system. Their international research has shown that misconfigurations or incorrect setups do impact on the smooth operation and wellbeing of the Internet.
Domainz recently asked Men and Mice to undertake a review of the .nz domain space. When a comparison was made with a number of countries it was found New Zealand ISPs and Registrars excel in DNS issues. Patrick O’Brien, Chief Executive believes this presents New Zealand with a real opportunity to establish itself as the international benchmark for domain name space configuration.
“Our research showed that the .nz domain space is well configured, with few users having issues with connecting or communicating on the Internet,” says Mr O’Brien. “This can be directly attributable to the professionalism and quality control systems our ISPs and Registrars have in place.”
To further enhance New Zealand’s reputation and establish itself as the international standard Domainz has partnered with Men and Mice to allow New Zealand users exclusive use of a software package to improve their domain name space configurations.
“In an e-commerce world integrity and trust of the Internet, and all its underlying layers, is essential to success,” says Mr O’Brien. “The first step is ensuring base information like contact details are correct and up-to-date. The accuracy of this information is even more important with Y2K less then a month away.”
Mr O’Brien also believes a major factor in the continuing success of the Internet lies in ensuring zone configurations are well managed – and that is a responsibility shared by all involved in domain name systems – including Domainz.
“New Zealand is already highly regarded internationally however there is an opportunity for us to be the best managed domain space in the world. The challenge lies in continually reviewing and updating our quality assurance programmes - the availability of this software package provides us with an additional tool towards achieving this goal,” he says.
The DNS Spring Cleaning software package has been made available to the New Zealand market to allow those involved in domain space management the opportunity to review their zone configurations.
