Media Statement
9 October 6.30pm

There was a confrontation this morning between landowners in Pukekawa and the Branch Manager of Ray White Real Estate.

The Real Estate Salesman arrived on the property of the Andrews family with four people. The agent had been issued with a trespass notice from Mrs Andrews last week as a result of a dispute with the Bank of New Zealand who are enforcing the sale.

A Tuakau Policeman Constable (Geoff Knight) was called and ordered the agent and his clients from the property following a rather unfortunate chain of events. Mr and Mrs Andrews were able to have an emergency meeting with Sir William Birch this afternoon.

This organisation has been in constant contact this week with the Banking Ombudsman to have the sale stopped. We asked Mr Pratt through the Ombudsman to simply hear the evidence prior to further action being taken. As at 5pm last night (Friday) we believe the Banking Ombudsman had not received a reply from the Managing Director of the Bank of New Zealand Mr Mike Pratt.

Mr Pratt had previously ignored the advice of Sir William Birch on the Andrews case and if Sir William’s advise had been taken the situation that has developed would have been avoided.

This week the Bank Customer Action Collective has uncovered serious questions relating to the Banks use of documents the Andrews have acquired through the high Court under discovery. There are very disturbing facts that have come to light relating to these documents. The Bank of New Zealand has misrepresented the Banking Ombudsman’s Office, which is proven from Bank Memos.

The bizarre excuses the bank have made to the Ombudsman may lead to some very serious charges being made against senior management of the bank.
