New Zealand Post Announces New Services And Prices For Domestic Parcels
New Zealand Post today announced a new range of domestic parcel services and prices which will be available through New Zealand Post’s retail network from 18 October. The service changes were signalled in June at the company’s annual result announcement.
“Following a comprehensive review of our domestic parcel service we have simplified and enhanced our range of domestic parcel services,” says Jim Quinn, ParcelPost Manager.
“Customers will notice more consistent delivery standards, and enhanced features such as pre-paid parcel tickets and traceability of delivery. In line with these improvements and other factors some parcel prices have increased, while others have decreased.”
Improved services in New Zealand Post’s parcel range include:
ParcelPost (for parcels up to
25kg)
- Delivery targeted within 1-3 days depending on
where item is sent.
- Electronic traceability of
delivery.
- Compensation for loss or damage up to
$250.
- Option of pre-paid tickets.
- Delivered by
courier.
- FastPost parcel service no longer part of
service.
PacketPost (for parcels up to 1kg and
less than 340mm x 220mm x 50mm)
- Cheaper option for
smaller parcels.
- Simple, nationwide pricing
structure.
- Delivery targeted within 1-3 days depending
on where item is sent.
- Compensation for loss or damage
up to $250.
- Delivered by the Postie network to
letterbox (within three days).
- FastPost option
(Targeted next day delivery).
In addition, New Zealand Post will continue to offer a courier service for urgent parcels up to 25kg. There is no change to this service which offers guaranteed overnight delivery (rural delivery within 2 days) and full track and trace facilities to track a parcel’s journey to delivery.
“Our domestic parcel service, ParcelPost, was last reviewed in 1993 and since then the market has changed considerably. It’s a lot more competitive, and our costs, particularly transport and processing have increased over the past six and a half years.”
The additional features offered within the revamped parcel range means that the previous FastPost parcel service for larger parcels, 1kg and above, is no longer necessary and has been removed. The FastPost letters service is still available, as is a FastPost service for PacketPost.
