Unexpected Bonus For Tourism Award Winners
Winners and finalists in this year's prestigious New Zealand Tourism Awards have just received an unexpected marketing boost. One of the winners, Jasons Travel Media, has launched www.jasons.co.nz/tourismawards an Internet site that celebrates the best in New Zealand tourism.
Jasons' managing director John Sandford says the site has been created to promote the success of both the winners and finalists in the 1999 New Zealand Tourism Awards to both the industry and potential travellers to or within New Zealand.
The awards represent the highest accolade for New Zealand tourism operators, positioning winners as market leaders.
"The New Zealand Tourism Awards offer prestige and recognition to our tourism industry," Mr Sandford says.
"The businesses representing New Zealand are a reflection of our 'can do' attitude and our pride as a nation.
"We want to share our beautiful country with visitors from diverse backgrounds and cultures and encourage New Zealanders to go out and experience their own country.
"Participants in the site offer a wide range of unique experiences to visitors, and leaving them with a collage full of adventure, culture and unsurpassed memories to take home with them," he said.
The winners and finalists were offered free listings on the awards site. All of them are able to utilise the on-line booking/enquiry form that puts the site user in direct contact with the tourism operator.
Jasons New Zealand Travel Channel attracted over 86,000 users in August 1999. These users generated over 1.8 million page views and 5.1 million hits.
