Telecom-Bellsouth Settle Lawsuit

Telecom and BellSouth New Zealand have settled the lawsuit filed by
BellSouth New Zealand in January 1997 relating to the marketing of
wireless services, the two companies announced today.

The agreement resolves all outstanding disputes between the two companies.
Terms of settlement were not disclosed.

"It is very pleasing to have relationships between our two companies
resumed on a straightforward, business-like basis," Clive Litt, Manager
External Relations said.

BellSouth New Zealand, a partnership between US-based BellSouth Corp. and
Singapore-based ST Telecommunications Pte Ltd, sold its cellular operations
in New Zealand to Vodafone Group Plc in 1998.
