FEDERATED FARMERS RE-ELECT LAMBIE AS VICE PRESIDENT

Federated Farmers re-elected Vice President Tom Lambie to another term today at the 1999 National Council/Conference.

Mr Lambie has been Vice President since 1996, and is the Federated Farmers spokesperson on energy, roading and local government.

In his speech, Mr Lambie praised the delegates for having the courage and foresight to move to a national structure. This has placed the federation in an extremely strong position to represent members.

He farms an organic dairy farm at Pleasant Point, South Canterbury and had been President of South Canterbury Province for three years.

He has a Bachelor's of Agricultural Commerce from Lincoln Univrersity, was a Kellogg Rural Leadership Scholar in 1995 and was a director of the Timaru Milk Company. He is currently a director of the South Canterbury Farmers' Irrigation Society and on the Opuha Dam Operations Committee.

Mr Lambie pledged 100% support for the new President.
