E-Commerce company launches ecofriendly surfboard range
AUCKLAND, May 22, 2019 – New Zealand-based e-commerce
company Lone Kauri Road Ltd has launched the first of a
range of eco-friendly wooden surfboards on its flagship
online shopping store lonekauri.com. The premium quality
wooden surfboards are the result of collaboration with
Gisborne-based surfboard manufacturer Red Leaf Surfboards
and are designed to offer a more sustainable and durable
alternative to toxic and petrochemical dependent surfboards
available on the market.
Fragile modern surfboards are often constructed using petrochemical derivatives that are harmful to both the environment and the surfboard shaper. The Red Leaf Surfboard range is constructed using recycled EPS foam core, NZ-grown Paulownia skins and rails and are glassed with Entropy Super Sap epoxy bio-resin - offering a more environmentally conscious option for surfing enthusiasts. The beautiful wooden surfboards are not only built to last, but full of integrity and soul.
The launch model is the Classic Fish - a modern take on a design classic that emerged from southern California in the late 60’s. Intended to bring maximum fun to your surfing in a wide variety of conditions, the generous volume and low rocker make paddling a breeze and get you into waves nice and early. A vee to spiral-vee bottom contour provides plenty of drive and manoeuvrability, and speed to burn. “The boards are a great choice on small days when you don’t want to sacrifice speed, and an absolute blast when the waves turn on and the power ramps up” says Red Leaf Surfboard chief designer and founder Peter Claydon.
Lonekauri.com will be adding further Red Leaf Surfboard styles to the range over the following weeks, part of an ongoing commitment to deliver surfing, camping and outdoors products that maximise performance and minimise environmental impact by employing natural, biodegradable or recycled materials, and by reducing product and packaging waste.
The lonekauri.com product line-up already includes a broad range of surfing products including traction pads constructed from 100% cork agglomerate, the world’s first surfboard fins created using recycled waste, organic surf waxes, recyclable surf leashes, natural sunscreens and much more.
