George R.R. Martin is coming?
Air New Zealand is thrilled to have received a response
from Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin to its invite
to visit New Zealand to finish off the remaining novels in
the series.
The airline posted a tweet on Monday in Valyrian – a language used in Game of Thrones novels inviting the US based author to New Zealand.
This was followed by a video on Tuesday showcasing some of the best of New Zealand to help encourage the author to visit the country and finish his novel ‘The Winds of Winter’, calling the country ‘a fantasy writer’s fantasy.’
Air New Zealand General Manager Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams says the airline was ecstatic to see a blog post from George RR Martin today in response to the invite.
“We’re stoked to hear George R.R. Martin got our message and loves New Zealand as much as we do.
“His blog mentions he’s been moved by our offer to bring him to New Zealand to finish off his novels but thinks our beautiful country will in fact distract him too much and he will continue to write in Westeros for now. He has though promised to have ‘The Winds of Winter’ in hand for a visit planned for 2020.”
