Summer Balanced Selection fund tops KiwiSaver rankings

Published: Mon 6 May 2019 04:25 PM
The Summer Balanced* Selection fund’s return was ranked first out of 26 funds in the Multisector - Balanced category in the Morningstar KiwiSaver survey March quarter 2019 for performance for the 12 months to 31 March 2019.
Morningstar’s report shows that the Summer Balanced Selection fund returned 8.4% p.a. in the year to 31 March 2019 after fees but before tax.
Summer Investment Committee Chair, Martin Hawes said the strong fund performance was the result of an active investment management strategy.
“We recognised in January this year that the market was bouncing off its lows of the previous quarter so we held to an aggressive position to profit from the rebound. Since then, as the market has generally improved we have reduced our risk and returned to a benchmark weighting in growth assets,” he said.
Currently, Summer has over 3600 active members and approximately $130million funds under management.
