Southern Cross Health Society customers most satisfied
With an aging population, increased life expectancy and more pressure on the public health system than ever, Kiwis’ need to protect their wellbeing in case of an unexpected medical event or to assist in paying for ongoing medical costs is at an all-time high. Providers operate in a largely free market with minimal specific health insurance regulations or restrictions, and where the number of Kiwis with health insurance is now more than 1.4 million[1].
For the fourth year running, insurance provider Southern Cross Health Society has been awarded Canstar’s Most Satisfied Customers Award. Health insurance typically covers elective surgery, private specialist consultations and tests. Certain products can also cover the unsubsidised portion of GP visits and prescriptions.
For each of the past four years, Southern Cross Health Society has been rated highly in its communication to members, as well as its quality of service throughout the claims process, including lodgement and outcome – which are among the key customer satisfaction pillars.

Canstar’s research found that almost two in three respondents (65%) like the peace of mind a health insurance policy provides.
