CTU calls for resolution of doctors strike

Published: Wed 1 May 2019 04:56 PM
The Council of Trade Unions says it’s in everyone’s interest that there is a swift resolution to the long running industrial dispute between resident doctors and District Health Boards (DHBs).
"These negotiations appear to be deadlocked and it is critical a breakthrough is achieved. The urgent facilitation is the best opportunity for the parties to find an enduring solution," said CTU President Richard Wagstaff.
"Our resident doctors have the full support of the CTU to negotiate fair terms and conditions of employment."
"There have been several important settlements in the DHB sector over the past few months which have involved breakthrough agreements on key issues like pay equity. A breakthrough is needed here also," Wagstaff said.
