Close to a million customers will be travelling on Air New Zealand’s network across the two-week school holiday period as Kiwis take advantage of this year’s Easter and Anzac Day combining with the autumn term break.
The airline has seen a 16 percent increase in domestic bookings and a six percent increase in international bookings across the four days of Easter when compared with the same period last year, with bookings on Pacific Island routes up by more than a third.
Air New Zealand will welcome around 6,000 unaccompanied minors travelling around the network during the school holidays.
Chief Marketing and Customer Officer Mike Tod says it’s great to see more than three quarters of a million travellers planning to explore New Zealand over the school holidays.
“Supercharging New Zealand’s success is core to Air New Zealand’s purpose so it’s pleasing to see visitation to some of our regional ports increasing by as much as 40% over Easter.”
And it’s not just passengers keeping Air New Zealand busy at this time of year. In the four weeks leading up to Easter, Air New Zealand Cargo has moved more than 13,500 individual shipments to 131 destinations, including more than 900 tonnes of New Zealand lamb bound for Easter tables in Europe.
Customers who are travelling over the Easter holiday period should allow plenty of time to get to the airport and keep an eye out for Air New Zealand’s roving ambassadors who will be surprising travellers with a few Easter treats.
