Milestone for NZTA welcomed

MTA welcomes NZTA’s announcement it has cleared the backlog of over 850 compliance cases.
MTA Chief Executive Craig Pomare says this is a significant milestone in NZTA’s work to overhaul its compliance system. “It is a real tribute to the NZTA Board and Steve Haszard’s leadership.
“MTA is working with him and the team at NZTA, as well as others in the sector, to decide how NZTA will operate in the future as it enforces the regulations around vehicle safety.
“For our part, we are concentrating on delivering a system that assures New Zealanders that when they take their vehicle in for a warrant it will be a rigorous inspection, designed for the vehicles of today.”
MTA represents many of the workshops that carry out WoF inspections and holds its members to the Motor Trade Association’s standards and Code of Conduct.
“There is no room for cowboys in this critical area of vehicle safety and we support NZTA in weeding them out.”
