The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) has today announced that Shane O’Brien has been elected as the new Region Four Director to the REINZ Board. This by-election occurred as a result of the early retirement of Jim Davis, who stepped down from his position to travel overseas.
Bridget Coates, Chair of the REINZ Board says: “We are delighted to welcome Shane as our newest Regional Director. He brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge of the Canterbury/West Coast region. I look forward to working with him closely moving forward.”
Shane has worked in the real estate industry for more than 25 years with experience as a salesperson, Manager, Director and Shareholder. He has been involved in all aspects of real estate including campaign management, marketing, auctioneering, management and governance, therefore bringing a broad range of knowledge to the REINZ Board.
Shane was an active member of REINZ District committees from 1998 to 2008 serving a term as Canterbury/Westland District President. In 2008 he was made a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand and in 2009 was an inaugural industry appointee on the panel to appoint the first ever Board of REINZ.
Commenting on the retirement of Jim Davis, Bridget Coates says: “Jim has made a significant contribution to the Institute during his time on the REINZ Board. We are grateful for all his knowledge, insight and the value he has brought to the industry during the last four years.”
