Leading safety technology sees Subaru Forester achieve 5 star safety rating
The all-new fourth generation Subaru Forester has achieved a 5 star safety rating from ANCAP.
The 2019 Forester is fitted with industry-first safety technology including a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) which uses facial recognition to detect driver distraction and drowsiness. If the driver continues to look away from the road ahead, both the driver and passenger are warned through a visual and audio alert.
It achieved 94% for adult occupant protection and 86% for child occupant protection.
AA Motoring Services General Manager Stella Stocks says it’s no surprise that the Forester achieved 5 stars.
“The Forester has been redesigned inside and out, with the addition of exciting new technology to improve the safety and comfort of all occupants.
“It is a sign of great things to come for future Subaru models and we can expect similar safety advancements across other manufacturers.”
The Forester is popular among industry, Stocks says. It won Best in Class – Medium SUV at the 2018 AA Driven NZ Car of the Year Awards, and was a top 10 finalist for the coveted AA Driven NZ Car of the Year title.
