Already known as NZ’s fastest-growing power company, Electric Kiwi keeps setting new speed records.
Electricity Authority figures show the independent company is scoring big time in the net switching market. *
For 10 of the 12 months from February 2018 to January 2019, Electric Kiwi outshone all of its competitors, winning more
business each month than many of them combined. Across the year, it picked up more than 14,500 customers switching from
other providers. Its closest rival was under 10,000 while the four biggest industry players all lost thousands of
customers.
“In January we had our best-ever result in terms of share of the market, and we are stoked about it” says Electric Kiwi
CEO Luke Blincoe.
“These figures show New Zealanders are actively looking for a better deal from their power providers. Our offering at
Electric Kiwi is unique as we have the free Hour of Power, no contracts and guaranteed first year savings.
“Kiwi consumers are sick of the nonsense they get from the big players, with so-called prompt payment discounts and
rewards and winbacks. We don’t do any of that but we do promise genuine savings, everyday low prices and great service
and we make sure we deliver on those promises.”
Electric Kiwi has had a stellar past couple of months. In November, it won the Deloitte Fast 50 award, and earlier
picked up the Consumer NZ Energy Retailer of the Year title at the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards. It also won a
People’s Choice Award from Consumer NZ and, in 2017, Canstar Blue awarded Electric Kiwi the “2017 Most Satisfied
Customers Award – Electricity Providers”.
