Tilt buys Liverpool Range wind project in NSW

March 7 (BusinessDesk) - Tilt Renewables says it has bought the Liverpool Range wind project which could add up to 1,000 megawatts of renewable energy generation to New South Wales when fully constructed.
The company doesn’t say in its statement how much it has paid for the project, which is located about 370 kilometres north-west of Sydney between the townships of Coolah and Cassilis in the upper Hunter region. It will be Australia's largest when built.
Chief financial officer Steve Symons says the price paid isn't material but is "in line with what we would expect to pay" and that Tilt has been talking to the former owner, Epuron Pty, for quite some time.
The project received development consent from the state government for up to 267 turbines in March last year and approval under the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act in June. At that time, Epuron said the wind farm would cost about A$643 million to build.
“We are delighted to add the Liverpool Range Wind Farm project to our development pipeline and deliver on our vision to be a leading developer and owner of renewable energy generation in Australia and New Zealand,” says chief executive Deion Campbell.
Together with its Rye Park Wind Farm project, Tilt now has more than 1.3 gigawatts of late-stage wind farm development projects in New South Wales.
Tilt is working with Genesis Energy on a project to develop a 100 MW wind farm at Waverley on the southern Taranaki coast. It is also in the process of raising A$260 million through a one-for-two rights issue to help fund its 336 MW Dundonnell wind development in Victoria.
