Join the microCAR movement to get Auckland moving
microCAR NZ Ltd is New Zealand’s very first Electric Vehicle Technology company with the big plan to get our emissions choked, gridlocked cities moving again by manufacturing and operating a "World First" microCAR EV lease business in New Zealand.
Narrow track electric microCARs have been available for some time now but Toa Greening explains that “The true benefit of these vehicles is that they are the same width as a motorcycle, therefore just like a motorcycle they can be navigated through congested traffic.”
Toa Greening adds “microCAR NZ Ltd has investigated the impacts of replacing cars on congested parts of the motorway with narrow track electric microCARs. Studies concluded that a 25% shift from cars to motorcycles on a congested motorway could relieve traffic congestion entirely”. When you consider the multi-billion dollar costs to expand the motorway network and the fact that 75% of peak time travellers are majority single commuters (Bus+Rail+Walk+Cycle+Carpool+Home=%25) then a microCAR future is a definite solution.
We have recently returned from visiting Commuter Cars in the United States to view the extended 400km range microCAR and finalise further plans for 2019. This has been a six-year journey which has taken microCAR NZ Ltd to the US (Commuter Cars, Google, Microsoft, Silicon Valley), India (Mahindra Electric, TechCity Bangalore), discussions with local manufacturers, international automotive suppliers, Mobility as a Service Tech companies and Blockchain Technology entrepreneurs. All this so we could complete "The Plan" to test and manufacture these fantastic vehicles in New Zealand.
The NZ made microCAR will be fully electric, carry two people, have an internal roll cage designed to withstand 200mph impacts and can accelerate from 0-100km in an astounding 3.5 seconds.
Last month a Pledgeme campaign was launched to raise funds to develop a new model New Zealand made microCAR. We are seeking 2,000 pledgers for $500K funding to establish supply lines, manufacturing partners, operating partners, local/international investors, investigating/trialling new advances in Hi-Tech mobility applications and to build 2-3 New Zealand made microCARs.
